This was just one of the many exciting orientation activities lined up for the first week of school. The activity helped to emphasize the importance of MBA’s caring for and giving back to their community as well as an ongoing emphasis on sustainability in action. The projects at the park ranged from cleaning and storing canoes for the fall to raking and removing fallout debris from the trails and sidewalks. Students were enthusiastic about the project for many reasons. “The community service was fun and gave me the chance to meet and interact with people I hadn’t met yet,” said one new first year student. Another remarked, “The community service project was an excellent opportunity to get to know fellow classmates while helping an undermanned local park service!”
